How JetAdvice works
JetAdvice is a client-server application. The JetAdvice client can run as an application on any HP LaserJet printer with Chai version 5.0 or later. It logs print jobs as the printer processes them and sends the relevant data to the
JetAdvice server. This can include information such as user identification, originating application, use of color or double-sided printing, and so on.
The JetAdvice server, which can be anywhere on the network or even hosted externally, collects this data from all the JetAdvice clients assigned to it, and makes it available for further evaluation. |
The client-server organisation means JetAdvice works independently of the printing environment, for network printing (via print-server or peer-to-peer), as well as for direct printing (using parallel port, USB or Bluetooth connections).
In addition, using a standard web browser, the administrator can access the JetAdvice server to define printing rules. The JetAdvice client downloads these rules automatically, and then enforces them as the printer processes the print job to ensure a consistent implementation of printing standards. |
