How AutoStore works
AutoStore is a PC-server application. A workflow-diagramming tool determines how each document is treated. You drag and drop the capture, process and route objects on the screen to define their interrelationship and configure the procedure. If you need more control, you can add your own Java or Visual Basic scripts. The saved workflow is automatically executed as documents are scanned, sent or captured.
AutoStore captures documents using the direct file transfer or SMTP interfaces of HP Digital Senders or HP Multifunction Printers (MFPs) – including single-key scanning on the MFP. It also works with PC scanners, digital cameras, forms recognition software, XML documents, or by monitoring designated directories or mailboxes – or even by receiving mail directly. |
After capturing, AutoStore processes the document using a combination of filters, such as character, form or barcode recognition software, image processing (to remove lines, dots or blank pages) format conversions, encryption, or the parsing and extracting of data. Processing can also include adding watermarks, creating XML documents, or concatenating documents.
Once the filters have prepared the document for storage and retrieval, AutoStore routes it to a folder on your PC, back to your Digital Sender, MFP or printer for faxing, sending or printing, or to applications such as Lotus Notes/Domino, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server, IXOS, FileNet, Easy Archive,
TRIM Context Store, FTP sites, e-mail, dynamic web publishing, file systems, OLEDB databases, and many more document and data management systems. An optional notification message is sent to confirm the completed procedure. |
