Print Job Control at its Best The JetCAPS Local Port Blocker DIMM is a new accessory for Hewlett-Packard LaserJet printers. It insures print jobs are submitted only through the network by blocking the printer's built-in infrared, parallel, serial, and USB ports. The Local Port Blocker DIMM is useful in environments, for example universities, where network printing is monitored for billing purposes. Users in these environments often discover that they can bypass the billing system by printing through a built-in port instead of the network. The Capella Technologies Local Port Blocker DIMM prevents this.

JetCAPS PDF Direct enables HP Laserjet printers to receive and print e-mail messages, as well as attachments (PDF, JPG, TIFF and MultiTIFF), without requiring a printer driver and even a PC. Thanks to the new developments, in co-operation with an Italian telecom provider, PDF Direct now supports also MMS, the standard for multimedia messages on mobile telephones. The pictures you take with your mobile phone camera can now be printed remotely on demand, just by sending an MMS to the printer. The procedure is very easy and can be handles in three different ways: via MMS, by sending the message to the printer's e-mail address instaed of the phone number: via e-mail, by setting up an e-mail account on the phone and send images as attachments to the printer's e-mail address, via Bluetooth, if a wireless interface has been installed on the printer (MMS mobile phones already support Bluetooth technology). PDF Direct can be installed on the following HP printer models: Business InkJet 3000, LaserJet 2300, 4100, 4100mfp, 4200, 4300, 9000, 9000mfp, Color 4550, 4600, 5500.

The JetCAPS® Scan2Folder from solutions provider s.a.x. Ltd increases the already considerable scope of HP LaserJet multi-function printers by adding significant document management and archiving capability. Scan2Fold is a software-based solution that makes it easy to integrate a HP LaserJet MFP with the user’s document workflow. Documents scanned on the LaserJet can either be sent to an e-mail addressor saved into a pre-determined folder. No extra software is needed, nor even a PC. Using HP Chai technology on a standard browser, the user sets up the FTP server address, user name, password and domain name details. Once the destination address has been created, it is automatically added to the e-mail address book of the printer. The user can then opt to save the document to a folder or send it however e-mail addresses are required. Perfectly integrated into the office environment, the Scan2 Folder can be installed on the hard drive of an HP LaserJet 4100 MFP or a LaserJet 9000 MFP.
As UK partner for the HP Corporate Printing Solutions Programme, s.a.x. Ltd. will play an important role on the HP stand at Healthcare 03 at Harrogate. s.a.x. will demonstrate its latest solutions for Secure Printing and Copy Control, augmented by Cost Control, in a healthcare environment. The demonstrations will be carried out using the HP LaserJet 9000 multi function printer (mfp) with documents printed using either s.a.x. FormServer software or simple MS Word templates. The demonstration will show the value of employing s.a.x. products for applications such as confidential patient records. Employing a SecureJet printing port ensures that documents are protected by encryption and that only personnel with proper authorisation can access them at the printer by using a 4 to 9 digit PIN. Complementing the obvious security benefits, s.a.x. MegaTrack cost control software records all the printing activity that takes place and, through a web browser, runs queries that generate cost reports and an audit trail. Copying is also monitored in the same way and the associated costs fed back from the printer. Associated s.a.x. solutions, including barcode printing from HP LaserJet printers, will also be on display on a stand that is certain to be of interest to all healthcare professionals. s.a.x. Ltd., UK distributor for information processing solutions provider JetCAPS® Labs, has announced the introduction of SecureJet, a new method of providing secure printing and usage control for printing and all other functions on the HP LaserJet 9000mfp. SecureJet consists of a plug-in board that encrypts documents as they are originated and maintains encryption on the hard disk until the user authorises delivery of the document by using a 4 to 9 digit PIN code at the SecureJet terminal. In addition to securing all functions – printing, copying, scanning to disk and digital sending – SecureJet also keeps track of usage per network user and logs information on the hard disk for charging and accounting purposes. SecureJet provides complete security for sensitive documents, guarding against hacking, interception and modification. It also ensures that document delivery can only be effected by authorised users. All jobs are tracked and reported for costing purposes, including copying where SecureJet provides a complete breakdown of all cost components, such as paper format, simplex or duplex printing, toner usage etc. Sending documents by e-mail is limited to authorised personnel and billing codes can be entered to charge clients or projects for all printer functions.
The new JetCAPS BarDIMM 3 from s.a.x. Ltd. is designed for both Windows and ERP applications and provides quality barcode printing on demand, without the need for expensive dedicated printers. Costing just £310, BarDIMM is simply inserted into an HP LaserJet in the same way as a memory expansion and instantly provides the ability to print virtually any kind of barcode. It has wide-ranging application – including retail, industry, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals, IDs, mailings and labelling – and the very high print quality of today’s LaserJet printers ensures that the barcodes can be read by all kinds of readers. A printer fitted BarDIMM will even met the latest stringent standard for international shipping labels. Rather than merely adding to fonts to the printer, BarDIMM actually adds barcode intelligence to PCL-5 printer language. The Windows or ERP application sends the printer all the information about the barcode and its formatting (size, rotation, positioning, embedded or half embedded text etc.) and BarDIMM then not only prints the barcode but also carries out full error detection checks. BarDIMM 3 Is ‘plug-and-play’ with most Windows applications, using activation through special TrueType fonts and is also supported by many ERP applications. It is available for HP LaserJet 2200, 4100, 4550, 8150, 9000 and more recent HP printers and can also be specially fitted to older models. JetCAPS BarDIMM is available from s.a.x. Ltd., the UK partner for JetCAPS Hewlett Packard Corporate Printing Solutions.
HP LaserJet users can now print simply and securely across the country or across continents using the Internet and the HP Chai technology built into the latest LaserJet printers. The installation of JetCAPS SD Express Printing from s.a.x. Ltd. provides a fast and affordable alternative to couriers and expensive dedicated networks by allowing access to printers to authorised users, whether home workers or those in remote locations. The key to SD Express Printing is the HP Chai technology that is built into HP LaserJet 4100, 9000 and later models. Data encryption ensures privacy and document integrity and if material is sent to the wrong printer it becomes unreadable. The result combines the security of courier delivery with the speed of a fax and the quality of HP LaserJet printing. The JetCAPS Express Printing logic module is inserted into any web-enabled LaserJet and client encryption software is installed on the PCs of authorised users anywhere on the web or within the company Intranet. Users then set their application to output to the remote printer and the software automatically encrypts the data and e-mails it to the printer. When the data is received, an e-mail is sent to the user to confirm receipt. To ensure security during transmission or in a printer queue, the data is only decrypted as it is printed.
New JetCAPS product enables HP LaserJets to print from IBM AS/400 or mainframes. For the first time, HP LaserJet printers represent a viable alternative for IBM AS400 host printing. The new JetCAPS IPDS 100 DIMM from s.a.x. Ltd. Not only maximises investment in HP printers, but also allows users to rationalise their printing operations. Simply installed in a free memory slot, IPDS 100 allows distributed printing of AFP/IPDS jobs from IBM mainframes and mid-range computers on networked LaserJets. The JetCAPS firmware, which costs a fraction of competitive products, automatically converts the IPDS language used in IBM computers to the PCL language used in HP printers. It has the ability to examine all incoming print jobs, selecting the appropriate page description language for each, so that the HP LaserJet may be used either for its normal networking operations or from printing from IBM computers. Because current HP LaserJet models also incorporate HP Chai technology, each has its own web address and the embedded web server enables the user to configure and manage the operation of the JetCAPS IPDS 100 remotely using a standard web browser.
The addition of the new ‘Print-to-Mail’ accessory from s.a.x. Ltd allows users to produce complete, ready-to-post mailings on their HP laser printer. Using pressure seal forms instead of conventional paper and envelopes, ‘Print-to-Mail’ prints, folds, seals and addresses hundreds of mailings per hour. And by eliminating the laborious tasks of folding, stuffing and sealing, it can save up to 50% of normal mail preparation costs. Suppliers s.a.x. Ltd – the UK partners for HP JetCAPS printing solutions – point out that at only £1195. ‘Print-to-Mail’ is the only truly affordable professional mailing system for the desktop. It can simply be attached to the popular HP LaserJet 4000, 4050 and 4100 printers and operates at the speed of the printer itself. When mailing is not required, a simple switch mechanism resumes normal printing operations. ‘Print-to-Mail’ forms can be supplied in a variety of formats to suit specific functions. These include the production of invoices, statements, promotional mailers or payroll advice. The forms can even be customised to include coupons or special offers. Solutions for both Windows and non-Windows based software can be provided to assist the user in formatting data to work with the forms. The forms are z-folded and securely sealed as they pass through the ‘Print-to-Mail’ unit to provide neat, secure and professional mailings. s.a.x. provides a range of options with ‘Print-to-Mail’, including the ability both to create cheques from blank cheque stock and to proof and sign cheques before folding and sealing. Electronic signatures can also be created on the system as one of many ways in which s.a.x. can help users to customise the system to match individual business needs.
Complementing the existing portfolio of Corporate Printing solutions, JetCAPS AutoStore captures documents as you scan, save or send them, processes them with a range of combinable filters, to optimise format for storage and provide search keys for ready retrieval, then routes it to your preferred document management system or database. The result is easy, unified, electronic access to paper-based information. The core software, additional modules plus implementation and maintenance can be purchased direct from s.a.x.
Co-developed by s.a.x. and DPI, JetCAPS Portfolio provides a software environment for collecting information on individual products, such as real estate or second-hand cars, and producing attractive, personalised marketing material that fits your customers needs exactly. s.a.x. are now pro-actively selling the solution through HP’s Centre of Excellence programme working closely with carefully selected Resellers to organise a number of educational seminars up and down the UK...
Following stringent testing, The HP LaserJet 4000 and 4050 Printers have been certified by APACS to print cheques on demand including the MICR Code line. This means that for a fraction of the cost, by utilising additional components from HP’s JetCAPS operation, namely The MICR DIMM and approved MICR Toner Cartridges, companies can output cheques using existing LaserJet printers. The resulting system is also very secure: by eradicating the need to use pre-printed stationery, the HP solution only prints out the cheques when they are required, and special firmware in the MICR DIMM offers password protection and a guarantee that the same document can’t be printed out twice. Whereas APACS/PIRA approval was obtained for Cheque In-Filling two years ago, final APACS 3 approval for authenticating the MICR Code Line has only just been granted thanks to lengthy test procedures devised to guarantee that cheques can be read accurately by the Reader Systems used by The High Street Banks. HP’s UK and Irish JetCAPS Partner, s.a.x. Limited, were responsible for taking the printers through the approval processes, and are the suppliers of the additional hardware required. They also provide a plethora of other products to make the process even more secure, and increase the capacity of existing printers. Approval for the HP LJ8150 and LJ4100
Printers is expected shortly. |
